ABOUT MURDERAHH
Parent Teacher is back with their latest single, “Murderahh”, a slacker-doom anthem that calls to mind the 90’s grit but with a relevant twist. Murderahh blends sludgey guitars with a raw lo-fi pop sensibility, invoking the spirit of grunge while simultaneously carving out its own playful anarchic sound. Imagine if Beck got trapped in a recording session with Weezer and Metronomy, and you're getting close to the chaotic euphoria this track unleashes.
The accompanying video, directed by Andrew Strasser (who’s worked with Girl Talk and Oneohtrix Point Never), is just as delightfully unique as the track itself. Against a stark white paper background, we follow Murderahh—a crayon-colored cutout skater with an alligator head—through a surreal, stop-motion skate competition. The video plays out like a mix between a children's storybook and a fever dream, merging a sense of brutal absurdity with childlike wonder. As Strasser explains, "The video explores themes like dog whistles, militancy, and media archetypes—everything we're dealing with today, but in a completely abstract way. It's something even a kid could watch, understand, and enjoy because they’ll be drawn in by the different types of characters that appear alongside the music."
Murderahh’s lighthearted yet rebellious spirit mirrors the song’s doomy undertones, creating a world where even the smallest skater can take a stand.
For fans of raw, doom metal grooves, lo-fi bedroom pop, and everything in between, “Murderahh” is essential listening. Both the single and the B-side “Birds of Prey” will take you on a trip that’s equal parts grunge nostalgia and forward-thinking indie experimentation.
